Individual detained on arson allegations targeting the apartment of a woman who held no comparable affections for him
Man Arrested for Suspected Attempted Arson in Osaka Prefecture
In an unusual turn of events, a 42-year-old man named Yuichi Tanaka was arrested in Kashiwara City, Osaka Prefecture, for suspected attempted arson. The alleged act of arson involved pouring diesel fuel in front of the apartment entrance where a woman known to Tanaka and her boyfriend reside.
According to the police report published by Sankei Shimbun, the incident occurred between midnight and 12:10 a.m. on Aug 19. The woman was not at home at the time, and her boyfriend was inside. The boyfriend heard a noise and noticed the intercom was burning, prompting him to call 110.
The fire burned the intercom of the apartment but did not spread to the building, preventing any injuries. However, the police allege that Tanaka ignited the diesel fuel, attempting to burn down the apartment building, not just the intercom.
Tanaka, a company employee from Kasugai City in Osaka Prefecture, has denied the allegation of attempted arson. He stated that he had romantic feelings for the woman but did not commit arson. There is no publicly available or credible information about Tanaka's partner living in a rental house in Kashiwara City.
The woman involved in the incident is in her 20s and lives with her boyfriend who is in his 30s. Tanaka has known the woman for approximately 18 months. This is a developing story, and further details will be released as they become available.
