Individual, identified as No. 0589, exhibits distress or agitation
In the heart of Bremen's old town, a disturbing incident unfolded on Wednesday. A 59-year-old man threatened two employees of a public institution, performing the Hitler salute and brandishing a knife and scissors from his backpack.
The man entered the institution in Bürgerstraße around 10 am, seeking legal assistance. However, his behaviour quickly escalated, prompting a colleague to ask him to leave the building due to his previous conduct.
The man refused and reached into his backpack, leading to the colleague subduing him. Despite being asked to leave the building again around 2 pm, the man threatened both employees with death.
Following the incident, a 47-year-old colleague managed to hold the man until the police arrived. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen has since charged the 59-year-old man for violations against the constitution, threats, and the use of unconstitutional symbols.
A restraining order has been placed against the man, and he has been issued a ban from the premises. Investigations regarding the incident are ongoing, and the Bremen Police encourage anyone with additional information to contact their Press Office at 0421/362-12114.
The motives behind the 59-year-old man's outburst remain unclear at this time. It is crucial to note that this article provides factual information and does not speculate on the man's intentions.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and tolerance in our society. The Bremen Police remind the public that any form of hate speech or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated and will be met with appropriate action.
