Individual in Moncton apprehended for reportedly brandishing an axe at law enforcement, subsequently securing himself within his residence.
In a series of events that unfolded on Saturday morning in Moncton, New Brunswick, a 34-year-old local resident named Philippe Bolduc found himself in legal trouble.
The incident took place at a home on West Lane, where Bolduc is accused of a break-and-enter. The charges against him also include assault with a weapon, obstruction of a peace officer, and assault with a weapon on a peace officer.
Upon Codiac Regional RCMP's attempt to arrest Bolduc, he reportedly barricaded himself inside the home. The situation escalated when he allegedly waved an axe at RCMP officers, prompting the call for the Crisis Negotiation Team and the Emergency Response Team to be dispatched to the scene.
The situation was intense, but it did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready warning.
Bolduc was eventually taken into custody and sustained minor injuries during his arrest. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment before being remanded into custody, pending a future court appearance.
Philippe Bolduc, a resident of Moncton, now faces a number of serious charges and will appear in Moncton provincial court to answer for them.
