In the heart of Hannover, a water rescue operation took place on Thursday morning near the canal bridge on Vahrenwalder Street. The incident was initially reported by the Hannover Fire Department, who dispatched 15 vehicles and 40 personnel to the scene.

The first-arriving fire department personnel spotted the person near the northern retaining wall of the Mittelland Canal. A passerby had reported an apparently lifeless person floating in the area. The firefighter divers quickly secured the person before they were brought to shore by a fire department boat.

Unfortunately, the attending physician could only confirm the death of the person. The water rescue operation, which involved firefighters, fire divers, and the water rescue specialist group, ended at approximately 08:30 AM.

The water rescue operation caused traffic disruptions on Vahrenwalder Street. The emergency services received the person after they were brought to shore, but no further details on the circumstances of the incident have been provided by the fire department.
