"Individually, we are separate entities; together, we form a singular force. SV Solingen endorses a unique undertaking aimed at combating solitude, extending a remarkable pledge respectively."

In an effort to address the widespread issue of loneliness, the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia has allocated two million euros to support projects aimed at combating this social problem. One such project is being led by SV Solingen 08/10 e.V., a traditional football club with over a century of history.

After a recent merger in the summer of 2022, SV Solingen 08/10 e.V. is now offering a weekly meeting for former athletes. The aim is to provide a regular opportunity for both men and women to meet, exchange ideas, and reminisce. The meetings take place in the recently renovated clubhouse on the Weyersberg sports facility, located at Kotter Street 29 in Solingen-Mitte.

Andrea Milz, State Secretary for Sport and Volunteering, emphasises the importance of connecting people to combat loneliness. Bettina Heuschkel, a member of the managing board of SV Solingen, highlights the importance of maintaining social connections for former athletes.

The meetings will take place every Thursday. For women, the gathering is from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, while the men's meeting runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The first meeting will take place on September 12th.

Parallel sports activities will allow for exchange with athletes, and card and board games are available for sociability. The Aiello family volunteers to handle the catering, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

For more information, contact Bettina Heuschkel at 0172 - 570 69 05. The campaign is named "Du+Wir=Eins - North Rhine-Westphalia against loneliness." Those interested in attending are welcome to register for better organisation.
