Industrial campus in Dormagen bolsters its intelligence

In the heart of Germany, the town of Dormagen is making waves with its latest development - the Smart Industrial Campus. This innovative project, spearheaded by SWD, is set to revolutionise the town's industrial landscape and provide a hub for growth, innovation, and sustainable value creation.

Mayor Erik Lierenfeld has emphasised the importance of the Smart Industrial Campus, stating that it offers the necessary spaces and conditions for innovation, growth, and sustainable value creation. The development, spanning approximately 27.8 hectares, is strategically positioned next to industrial production areas, ensuring high location quality.

The Smart Industrial Campus is poised to create new future prospects for Dormagen. By activating the potential for new company settlements, it aims to strengthen Dormagen’s industrial location, attracting new economic impulses linked to the chemical park and industry.

The unique selling propositions for Dormagen’s economic hub are the chemical industry and the industrial park. The Chempark, a long-standing partner in Dormagen’s economic development for over 100 years, shows interest in new settlements within and outside its premises.

The Smart Industrial Campus is designed to foster innovative, growing, and sustainable value-creating activities. Companies can produce within the Chempark and locate administrative, research, and development activities outside of it. This setup allows for a seamless blend of production and development areas, a strategy employed by SWD to optimally connect these zones.

The target groups for the location include startups and scaleups with a connection to the chemical industry, manufacturing companies with high infrastructure requirements, such as from the recycling industry, and development-oriented companies that develop digital innovations for industry. The interest from startups and technology-oriented companies indicates that SWD’s strategies are on the right track.

Michael Bison, Managing Director of SWD, believes the close integration with the Chempark is a great opportunity for Dormagen. Close coordination between SWD, Chempark operator Currenta, and landowners has been positive, further propelling the development of the Smart Industrial Campus.

SWD is also expanding the Smart Industrial Campus as a digital park, a strategy aimed at attracting even more companies and fostering digital innovation. The development of this digital hub is set to further strengthen Dormagen's industrial hub and bolster its position as a leading industrial location in Germany.

In conclusion, the Smart Industrial Campus represents a significant step forward for Dormagen. By providing the necessary spaces and conditions for innovation, growth, and sustainable value creation, it is poised to attract new companies and strengthen the town's industrial sector. With the close integration with the Chempark and the support of various stakeholders, the Smart Industrial Campus is set to transform Dormagen into a beacon for innovation and sustainable growth.
