In a significant stride towards fostering responsible gaming practices in Latin America, SiGMA World and the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lottery and Betting (CIBELAE) have joined forces to shape the future of the region's lottery sector.
SiGMA World, a leading event organiser in the betting, iGaming, and lottery industry, has been actively supporting initiatives that promote transparency, player-centric frameworks, and compliance with ethical standards in state lotteries. One such initiative is the CIBELAE seminar titled "Safe, Responsible and Sustainable Gaming in Lotteries," which brings together regulatory and operational leaders from across Latin America.
The seminar, held in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, from 25-26 June, aimed to advance ethical governance and responsible gaming practices. The event was attended by key figures such as Rodrigo Cigliutti (Executive Director of CIBELAE), Edson Kikuchi (Senior Consultant at 2S Consultoria), Regis Dudena (Head of Prizes and Betting Secretariat, Brazil), and Daniel Romanowski (CEO of Lottopar).
Romanowski, who was recently recognised with the 2024 Best C-Level Award for his leadership at Lottopar, emphasised the importance of all stakeholders working together to protect customers and the industry's integrity. Meanwhile, Cigliutti has been instrumental in standardising responsible gaming protocols across Ibero-America through CIBELAE's initiatives.
CIBELAE, on the other hand, acts as a strategic bridge and platform for cooperation, innovation, and the exchange of best practices among Ibero-American lottery operators. The organisation hosts seminars focused on responsible gaming, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in lotteries, gathering industry experts, regulatory authorities, and suppliers to address challenges such as illegal gambling and the integration of good governance and ESG principles.
The partnership between SiGMA World and CIBELAE reflects a cohesive regional push towards governance frameworks prioritising social responsibility. This collaboration strengthens the ecosystem by advocating practices that protect players, prevent illegal gambling, and ensure the lotteries’ social responsibility.
In addition to the joint seminars, SiGMA World and CIBELAE will also collaborate at the BiS SiGMA conference, the largest betting, iGaming, and lottery event in Latin America. The partnership is seen as essential, bringing CIBELAE closer to state lotteries and key companies in the sector.
Moreover, SiGMA World offers specialized courses on regulatory compliance and ESG principles through the iGaming Academy, while the SiGMA Foundation focuses on initiatives like healthcare outreach and education programs in underserved communities.
Looking ahead, SiGMA World heads to Florianópolis in 2026 for a luxury Affiliate Retreat in South America, and SiGMA Euro-Med in Malta (1-3 September 2025) will focus on ESG integration, AI-driven player protection, and regulatory harmonization.
By fostering industry dialogue, education, and collaboration among key stakeholders, SiGMA World and CIBELAE are paving the way for a more ethical and socially responsible lottery sector in Latin America.
