Industry Gathering in Freiberg: Expert Discussions and Foundry Social Event at the 34th Ledebur Colloquium
The Ledebur Colloquium 2022, a unique blend of foundry education and industry innovations, is set to take place from Thursday, 23rd October to Friday, 24th October. Organized by the Foundry Institute (Gieรerei-Institut) of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, this event promises practice-oriented presentations, discussions, and encounters.
The colloquium will be hosted at the Foundry Institute, providing attendees with an immersive experience. The first day of the event kicks off with an official welcome by Prof. Michal Szucki, followed by presentations on the current state of the East German foundry industry, thermal energy storage systems, AI-driven energy management, emission control, and process optimization.
The day is also marked by an institute tour, a farewell ceremony for graduates, the presentation of awards, the appointment of the Honorary Founder, and a Foundry Evening at Tivoli Freiberg. Young scientists and early-career researchers from the Foundry Institute will present their latest research projects on lightweight brake discs, core-making technologies, and simulation-based material characterization.
On the second day, the focus shifts to recycling strategies for aluminum alloys, automation and digitalization in production, innovative measurement methods, and the potential of secondary raw materials. The colloquium concludes with a farewell and joint lunch on the second day.
