Informant exposes secret information
In the upcoming German thriller, "D 2023," directed by Elmar Fischer, the story revolves around a Russian woman named Galina Gromowa, played by Katharina Nesytowa. Galina reappears in the life of Tom Arndt, portrayed by Artjom Gilz, and asks him for a favour – to connect her with his sister who leads the crisis team at the Foreign Office.
Galina, a former leading member of a hacker group within the Russian secret service, claims to possess highly classified material that could prevent further attacks. She also has a rescue code and offers herself as a whistleblower to Germany, following the targeted hacking of the computer systems at the Berlin Central Clinic, resulting in a patient's death and subsequent system failures in other German clinics and hospitals.
However, it remains unclear whether Galina's intentions are to expose the hackers or to cause harm herself. Tom, who still harbours feelings for Galina, finds himself travelling with her towards Germany. The crisis team, meanwhile, has asked Tom to stall Galina and extract information from her.
Joining the cast are Emilia Diekmann as Sonja Gromowa, Paul Michael Stiehler as Carlo, and Christian Erdmann as Jan Multhaup. The film, with a runtime of 90 minutes, is available until 04/10/2025.
As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Galina is seeking asylum in Germany, along with her young daughter, and entry into a witness protection program. The search results do not provide information about the leader of the crisis team at the German Foreign Office with whom Galina wants to make contact.
With its gripping plot, "D 2023" promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, as they navigate the world of espionage and suspense. Don't miss out on this thrilling film when it hits theatres.
