In the heart of Solingen, a fire broke out at a pizzeria located on Lützow Street, operated by the Russo family, just before midnight last night.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the restaurant filled with smoke, with visible flames inside a kitchen located at the rear of the establishment. They entered the building through an open kitchen window and used a C-type hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Fortunately, no residents were found in the apartments above the pizzeria, and the incident was contained to the ground floor of the three-story building. The firefighters also employed two positive pressure fans to ventilate the building after the fire was extinguished.
Despite the closure of Lützow Street during the operation, which lasted approximately two hours, there were no significant traffic disruptions due to the late hour.
Following investigations, a police spokesperson confirmed that the fire was caused by a technical malfunction in a deep fryer. During follow-up operations, a suspended ceiling had to be opened for further inspection.
The pizzeria suffered damage from the fire and smoke, but the living areas remained habitable. The Russo family is currently assessing the extent of the damage and planning the next steps for their business.
The community is rallying around the Russo family, expressing their support and wishing for a swift recovery. The fire department commended the quick response and effective containment of the fire, ensuring no further damage or risk to the surrounding area.
