In a bid to ensure long-term security for individual household heat supply and create a future-proof energy system, the cities of Bottrot, Gelsenkirchen, and Gladdeck are collaborating on a municipal heat plan. The project, led by Dr. Klaus Rammert-Bentlage of Bottrot, brings together several organizational units of the three city administrations, energy suppliers, network operators, housing industry, industry, crafts, and the general public.
The federal government has mandated major cities to submit a municipal heat plan by mid-2026, and these three cities are among those aiming to comply. Con-Energy Consult, a firm tasked with strategic planning for the municipal heat plan, will first describe the current situation in the municipalities before identifying the potential of the heat plan for the cities.
After assessing the potential, Con-Energy Consult will develop the implementation strategy and specific measures for the heat plan. The collaboration between the cities aims to leverage synergies and keep costs as low as possible for taxpayers. The municipal heat plan will outline how different city areas will be supplied with heat and how renewable energies and unavoidable waste heat can be used effectively.
Dr. Kai Thiemann from the city of Gelsenkirchen emphasizes the importance of transparency in the energy supply process and involving both citizens and all relevant stakeholders. JΓΌrgen Harks, project leader for the city of Gladbeck, states the goal of developing plans for all three municipalities together with Con-Energy Consult by early 2026.
Juliane Hausknecht from Con-Energy Consult promises to keep the public informed about all project milestones. Dr. Rammert-Bentlage, in his role as project leader for the city of Bottrot, is leading close cooperation between the parties involved. All parties involved in the project prioritize the needs of the people in the cities of Gelsenkirchen, Gladbeck, and Bottrot.
The heat plan will aim to address the extreme importance of energy supply to the people in the cities. By working together, the cities hope to create a more sustainable and cost-effective energy system that benefits all citizens. The completion of the tendering process for the heat plan marks a significant milestone in this ambitious project.
