Initiative Intended to Nurture Skills and Ability in Learners

The MINT cluster in the Landshut region, a collaboration between the city, local educational institutions, regional companies, and public sector partners, has received follow-up funding from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). This funding will allow the cluster to expand its high-quality MINT educational offerings until 31 August 2027.

The MINT cluster, which includes partners such as the city of Landshut, MINT Forum Bavaria, University of Landshut, Silicon Vilstal, World Clock Landshut, and DOM, aims to inspire children and young people aged 8 to 16 for mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (MINT). The cluster's efforts have already reached over 6,000 children and young people since its inception in September 2022.

The regional MINT day, a highlight of the MINT cluster's activities, is a key event that makes MINT tangible for children, young people, and their parents. This annual event features science shows, practical workshops, company information stands, and special attractions like the "Innotruck" of the BMBF.

The MINT cluster's strategies for the next two years prioritize structural and financial sustainability. The cluster aims to establish long-term partnerships with municipalities, companies, and civil society actors to ensure its future-proof independence. The project's success is largely due to the voluntary commitment of the project partners, who have made over 675 coach deployments so far.

Since the start of the project, a strong, extracurricular educational offer has been established. This includes various formats designed to engage children and young people in MINT subjects. The MINT cluster's focus from 2025 to 2027 will be on the sustainable anchoring of MINT educational offerings in the region.

The MINT cluster's goal is to contribute to long-term skilled workforce security through joint responsibility for MINT education. The cluster's activities are part of the "Child-Friendly Municipality" Landshut's second project phase, which aims to make the Landshut region a secure source of skilled workers in the MINT fields.

The MINT cluster's follow-up funding has been approved until 31 August 2027, securing the preservation of existing structures and enabling further development. The focus of the MINT cluster in the coming years will be on consolidating existing offers and strategically expanding the network. The MINT cluster's strategies for the next two years prioritize structural and financial sustainability, ensuring the continued success of the Landshut region.
