Instagram app now available for iPad users
New Instagram App for iPad Enhances Social Media Experience
Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has released a separate app designed specifically for iPads. The new app is optimised for larger displays, taking advantage of iPadOS's multitasking and window system.
Upon launching the app, users are greeted with the Reels page, offering a seamless transition from the mobile experience. The Stories are displayed along the top of the screen, providing easy access to updates from friends.
The app offers a full-screen mode for both portrait and landscape orientations, making it ideal for viewing photos and videos on the iPad's larger screen. This is further enhanced by the compatibility with Apple Pencil (Pro), allowing for a more interactive and creative experience.
In addition, the app is also compatible with Apple's Trackpad and Magic Keyboard, making it easier to navigate through the app.
One of the key features of the new iPad Instagram app is the "Following" tab, which offers three options to view content from accounts you follow: All, Friends, and Latest. The "Latest" option displays chronological posts and Reels from accounts you follow, with the newest content appearing first. The "Friends" option, on the other hand, displays recommended posts and Reels from accounts you follow and who also follow you back.
Another useful feature is the ability to read comments while watching a Reel, allowing for a more engaging experience. Additionally, users can keep an eye on their inbox while reading a DM conversation, ensuring that important messages are never missed.
The iPad Instagram app is optimised for iPadOS 15.1 and later, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience. With these new features and optimisations, the new Instagram app for iPad offers an enhanced social media experience for users.
