Intense Resistance Band Exercises for Toning Abs

Personal trainer Massy Arias has endorsed resistance training as a simple and mobile workout option, particularly for building strength in the core. In a recommended 4-move resistance band ab workout, Arias includes exercises that target the obliques, entire abdominal wall, lower body, and core muscles effectively.

The single-leg T row is one such exercise, which involves shifting weight onto one leg, hinging at the hips, leaning forward, and pulling a resistance band towards the chest by sending the opposite elbow straight back. This exercise requires the use of one leg and one arm while the other leg is extended behind the body.

Another exercise in the workout is the T rotation lunge, which targets the obliques and the entire abdominal wall. To perform this exercise, one foot is stepped back into a lunge, the torso is rotated, and the resistance band is pulled as wide as possible.

The unilateral squat is another exercise in the workout that challenges the lower body. To execute this move, the feet are placed slightly wider than hip-width apart, a resistance band is looped under the ball of one foot and around the corresponding wrist, and a squat is performed.

The spiderman push-up is another resistance band exercise that requires the use of the core to draw one knee towards the corresponding elbow during the push-up. This exercise starts in a high plank position, the chest is lowered for a push-up, and one knee is brought to touch the corresponding elbow.

Lastly, the hollow body roll is a core exercise that requires hovering the shoulders and legs off the floor, then rolling the body from side to side using the core.

Each exercise in the workout is to be performed for 8 to 10 reps and 3 sets, with a 30-second rest in between each set. Arias advises that after the birth, it's important to listen to one's body and do what's best for it.

Resistance bands are versatile tools for enhancing workouts, offering a wide range of exercise variations. They are suitable for both home and travel workouts, making them a convenient option for those looking to maintain fitness while on the go. Furthermore, resistance band core exercises can be effective for strengthening the core muscles, making them a valuable addition to any workout routine.
