Intense storms and downpours occurring in the western regions
Over the next few days, Germany is set to experience a mix of weather conditions, with showers and thunderstorms expected in various regions.
On Thursday, the country will see partly to heavily cloudy skies with scattered showers. There could be individual thunderstorms along the coast, while the western regions may experience localized severe rain. In the afternoon and evening, strong thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible in the west. The weather situation in the east will also change gradually.
Tuesday will bring more showers and thunderstorms, with compact cloud cover bringing shower-like rain in the west. Along the Elbe, there will be individual thunderstorms with heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. In the west, there is initially a chance of localized severe rain.
The upcoming weekend weather is expected to be hot and sunny, but after the weekend, the country will experience unsettled and cooler weather.
On Wednesday, the sky will be partly to heavily cloudy, with heavier rain in the south. The temperatures will reach 17 degrees Celsius south of the Danube, while it will be warmer in the east, with highs of up to 26 degrees Celsius. The heavier rain on Wednesday will later reach the eastern parts of the country.
On Tuesday evening, the northern and eastern regions of Germany, including areas near the North and Baltic Sea coasts, as well as places north of a line between Cologne and Dresden, could be affected by heavy rain and possibly severe thunderstorms, with gusty winds up to 80 km/h along the coasts. Meanwhile, the southern parts, such as Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, are expected to remain mostly dry and show more sunshine.
It's important to note that there is a high risk of heavy rain, especially along and west of the Rhine, with local severe weather likely overnight from Monday to Tuesday. Thunderstorms with the risk of severe weather are possible in the southwest and west until Tuesday morning.
