The 59th edition of the Venice Biennale, one of the world's most prestigious art events, is set to take place from April to November 2022. This seven-month-long public art exhibition in Venice, Italy, offers a unique experience for art enthusiasts and novices alike.

Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the director and chief curator of New York City's High Line Art, the 2022 Biennale promises to be a showcase of transformation, diversity, and innovation. Alemani, who is the first Italian woman to serve as the Biennale's curator, was selected by the Biennale committee due to her expertise in public art.

The Biennale encompasses several parts: the International Art Exhibit, the Arsenale, national pavilions, and collateral exhibitions. The International Art Exhibit is located at the Giardini park and is anchored by the Central Pavilion. The Arsenale, a former shipbuilding complex added to the Biennale in 1980, will also host a significant portion of the artworks.

Collateral exhibitions are independent works, often created by groups, entities, or institutions, typically displayed at the Giardini or Arsenale. These exhibitions provide a platform for a diverse range of artists and ideas, adding depth and richness to the Biennale experience.

The theme of the 2022 Venice Biennale is "The Milk of Dreams", inspired by a children's book by surrealist painter Leonora Carrington. This theme revolves around the representation of bodies, individuals, and technology, and the connection between bodies and Earth. Over half the artists participating in the Biennale have never been to the Biennale before, ensuring a fresh and innovative perspective.

A majority of the artists for the 2022 Biennale are female or non-gender conforming, reflecting Alemani's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Five countries will be participating in the national pavilions for the first time: Cameroon, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, and Uganda.

Tickets for the 2022 Venice Biennale art exhibition are relatively affordable, priced at 25 euros (about $27) for adults and 10 euros (around $10.81) for students. Separate tickets are also available for the architecture exhibition, and for film, dance, music, and theater festivals.

The Biennale offers a Biennale Card with various levels and benefits. This card provides exclusive access to events, exhibitions, and venues, making it an attractive option for frequent visitors.

The 2022 Venice Biennale is more than an exhibition; it establishes trends for art and can elevate careers or change perspectives on contemporary art movements around the world. Art expert Kyle believes Cecilia Alemani, the curator of the 2022 Venice Biennale, was inspired by her own experience as a mother in choosing the theme. The Biennale promises to be a transformative experience for all who attend.
