International University Games: Three pole-stead race events and two cruise ship venues
The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has officially approved the sports schedule for the upcoming 2022 Universiade, which will take place in Naples, Salerno, and Caserta from July 3 to July 14. This prestigious event will be a 12-day celebration of sports, culture, and unity.
The Universiade will feature 11 sports, including swimming, athletics, basketball, volleyball, and more. The opening ceremony will be held in Naples on July 3, 2022, marking the beginning of this exciting event. The closing ceremony will take place in Caserta on July 14, 2022, signifying the end of an unforgettable journey.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, guidelines for recruiting approximately 8,000 volunteers have been approved. These volunteers will be crucial for activities before, during, and after the Universiade. The local organizing committee or authorities managing the event will be responsible for their recruitment, although specific details from the search results are not yet available.
Accommodation will not be a concern for the over 9,000 athletes participating in the Universiade. A total of 4,000 beds will be provided via cruise ships, while hotel accommodations and university residences will cater to an additional 2,000 people each.
In addition to the sports competitions, the Universiade will also include cultural events and exhibitions, providing a rich and diverse experience for all attendees. The 2022 Universiade's mascot, "Napoletana," a mythical sea creature that symbolises the Neapolitan region, embodies the spirit of the event.
The 2022 Universiade will utilise three hubs: Naples, Salerno, and Caserta. Rai Sport, the Italian national sports broadcaster, will be responsible for broadcasting the event, ensuring that millions around the world can share in the excitement.
