In the digital age, finding a lawyer has become as simple as a click of a button, thanks to Legaltech start-ups like LawChamps. Based in San Francisco, LawChamps is making legal services more accessible and affordable for individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.

Approximately half of solo and small firm attorneys do not have websites, yet online searches are the number one way people find lawyers and legal advice. Recognizing this gap, LawChamps helps these attorneys grow their online presence by offering online profiles and a website builder.

Founded by Jennifer McGlone, a seasoned attorney with twenty years of private practice experience, LawChamps aims to promote access to the law and lawyers, create more attorney-client relationships, and support those relationships.

The mission of LawChamps is twofold: to connect people with qualified, trusted, and experienced lawyers, and to do so without disrupting the traditional attorney-client relationship. The company uses technology to help people find the right lawyers for their personal and business needs.

LawChamps' algorithm matches people with lawyers based on the experience and expertise of the lawyers in their region. This ensures that every client is connected with a lawyer who can best meet their needs.

Legaltech, a broad term encompassing the use of technology and software within the legal industry, can be used to help lawyers practice law more efficiently or to deliver legal information and legal services directly to clients. LawChamps falls into the latter category, providing on-demand legal forms and research tools to lawyers.

However, resistance to on-demand legal forms exists within the legal community due to concerns that technology might replace lawyers and legal counsel. LawChamps, however, aims to support the traditional attorney-client relationship, not disrupt it.

In 2020, organic traffic to LawChamps' website and blog increased by 1,200 percent, indicating a high demand for legal help. The COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in calls to LawChamps with questions about parent visitation schedules, eviction moratoriums, and rights as essential workers.

In addition to its core services, LawChamps launched a public-service and legal education initiative. This included a resources directory, hundreds of articles on the Legal Insights Blog, and legal meet-ups.

Jennifer McGlone founded LawChamps to make legal services more accessible and affordable. By connecting people with the right lawyers, LawChamps is making a significant impact in the legal industry and ensuring that everyone has access to quality legal representation.
