Interview Readiness at Peak Level
The Berufspatenprojekt, an initiative aimed at supporting young people in their transition from school to the world of work, is seeking life- and work-experienced volunteers to mentor young people with migration or refugee backgrounds.
Recently, the Berufspatenprojekt organised the "Fit for the Job Interview" training, a three-week online event in cooperation with the Youth Employment Service and the Chamber of Crafts Kassel. Despite initial technical hiccups and missed appointments, all involved agreed that the project should be continued next year.
The training aimed to prepare students from BÜA classes for job interviews for their apprenticeships. Participants could book online job interviews with fictional companies or businesses via a booking portal. Eleven experienced mentors from various fields were available as sparring partners for the students. After each interview, there was feedback and tips for further job application activities.
Seven vocational schools from the city and the organization participated in the training. This was the first time many students had conducted an interview in this format, making the experience invaluable. The overall conclusion of the mentors was that the project was beneficial, educational, and enjoyable.
The Berufspatenprojekt has been funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration and has previously organised the "Fit for the Job Interview" training. Interested volunteers can contact Coordinator Brigitte Vogler at 0561−1003 1275 or [email protected].
It's important to note that the Berufspatenprojekt is not limited to the city and the organization, and volunteers from other areas are welcome. Further information can be found at www.ourwebsite/berufspatenprojekt. The Berufspatenprojekt aims to continue the project next year, based on the positive feedback received. Volunteers will accompany young people as they start their working lives.
The Berufspatenprojekt has cooperated with the Youth Employment Service and the Chamber of Crafts Kassel in the past and looks forward to continuing these partnerships in the future.
