Jackson State Extends Win Streak, Beats Hampton 28-14

In a hard-fought game on Saturday, Jackson State emerged victorious against Hampton, securing a score of 28-14. The victory extended Jackson State's Division I win streak to an impressive 11 games.

Ahmad Miller, the star running back for Jackson State, was the standout player of the match. Miller rushed for an impressive 172 yards on 10 carries, scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns. His longest run of the game was a 76-yard touchdown, while his first touchdown was a 2-yard run.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Miller. A pass intended for him was intercepted by a Hampton defender before his 76-yard touchdown run, but the specific defensive player responsible for the interception was not mentioned in the available sources.

For Hampton, quarterback Freeman had a mixed performance. He completed 10 out of 17 passes for a total of 117 yards, but also threw one interception. Freeman also contributed 94 rushing yards on 13 carries.

This was Hampton's first loss to Jackson State in four meetings, with their last victory dating back to 2008 (17-13). Jackson State, the defending HBCU champion, finished last season with a record of 12-2.

The rematch between Jackson State and Grambling, which Jackson State lost in 2020, is scheduled for Oct. 25 this season. The Tigers' last loss was on Sept. 21, 2020, against Grambling.
