Jeep encourages 4x4 vehicle owners to understand their legal privileges for off-road driving on green lanes

Jeep, a renowned automobile brand, has teamed up with the Green Lane Association (GLASS) and TreadLightly UK to help 4x4 owners make the most of their vehicles' off-road capabilities. This collaboration aims to educate Jeep drivers about off-road driving and responsible exploration.

According to a survey conducted by Jeep, a shocking 58% of UK drivers are unaware of their rights to drive off-road. This partnership is designed to change that, encouraging customers to explore the green lanes of the UK.

Almost one-in-five (19%) of those questioned said off-road capability was an important factor in a new vehicle purchase. However, 25% of respondents admitted that their current car was not at all capable of off-road driving. This collaboration aims to bridge this gap, helping drivers understand the potential of their vehicles.

Jeep vehicles, such as the Wrangler and new Avenger 4xe, are highlighted for their off-road capabilities. To further assist potential customers, Jeep dealerships will offer off-road test drives and will now have access to GLASS mapping software, allowing them to highlight potential routes to be explored.

Local GLASS representatives will be available to offer extra advice. Unfortunately, there is no information available regarding how many Jeep dealers in the UK have access to the Green Lane Association's mapping software.

Despite the lack of knowledge about off-road driving, nearly three quarters (72%) of respondents were unaware of what a green lane actually was. This highlights the need for education and awareness about these unsurfaced routes that thousands of miles of exist across the UK, which drivers are able to access.

78% of survey respondents said they would not know where the closest green lane to them was. Kristian Cholmondeley, managing director of Jeep UK, emphasized the vehicles' ability to help people explore the world. This collaboration is a step towards making that exploration a reality for more UK drivers.
