Job Training for Unemployed Individuals

In the vibrant city of Krefeld, a unique initiative is making a significant difference in the lives of many children. The Krefeld Learning Workshop, an integral part of the city's educational counseling, is dedicated to providing individual, positive, and fun support to children struggling with learning disabilities such as Dyscalculia and Reading-Writing Weakness (RWS).

The Learning Workshop is accessible through school referrals or parental contact to the Psychological Service. Each year, approximately 370 students benefit from this free service, with the help of 22 honorary workers and five permanent employees. Carola Brink and Uschi Hass, two of the five permanent employees, each hold a half-time position at the Learning Workshop.

Most of the students assisted are primary school students, but secondary school students also find support there. The Learning Workshop operates in the mornings at 15 Krefeld primary schools, with honorary workers also active in the afternoons at two locations of the city administration.

The Learning Workshop is a municipal offer, but it is also closely associated with a support association, with Ingolf Meinhardt as its chairman. Interested individuals can find further information about the support association on www.foerderverein-lernwerkstatt-krefeld.de.

Despite the high number of participating students, the Learning Workshop has a long waiting list. Those interested in learning more about the Learning Workshop can call 0 21 51 / 3 63 26 70 or contact the Psychological Service.

After about a year at the Learning Workshop, many children no longer need this type of support. The Learning Workshop's approach is designed to empower children, helping them to overcome their learning difficulties and thrive in their academic pursuits.

The Learning Workshop is always looking for new honorary workers to join their dedicated team. If you are interested in making a difference in a child's life, consider volunteering your time and skills to this worthy cause.
