Joint Action Day for Enhanced Motorcycle Track Safety in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Marken Regions: Unified Effort by Three Authorities

On a recent action day, traffic authorities in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Märkischer Kreis took a proactive approach to ensure road safety for all users.

In Märkischer Kreis, the focus was on preventing motorcycle accidents and strengthening traffic safety on popular routes. Speed measurements and vehicle checks were conducted at several locations in Halver, Kierspe, and Meinerzhagen. Unfortunately, thirty-five motorcycle drivers were caught driving too fast, with one individual exceeding the speed limit by an alarming 56 km/h, facing a potential driving ban as a consequence.

Similar deployments are planned for the future in Märkischer Kreis, with the support of the traffic warden, DEKRA, and the German Red Cross. The Red Cross demonstrated first aid in the area of the popular "Applause Curve" on the Nordhelle.

Traffic safety advisors also set up an information booth in the "Applause Curve" and conducted numerous preventive conversations with motorists. Meanwhile, at the Hengsteysee, motorcycle drivers could view airbag vests and test "drunk goggles."

In Hagen, police officers carried out speed and vehicle checks at several control points, with representatives of DEKRA supporting the checks. Around 140 speeding offenses (cars and motorcycles) and several mobile phone offenses were recorded in Hagen. Car drivers were specifically addressed and sensitized to the dangers with accident videos.

In Wilnsdorf and Burbach, approximately 2,500 cars and motorcycles were measured in speed checks, with approximately 130 vehicles (including 12 motorcycles) driving too fast. The fastest motorcycle driver was measured at 151 km/h. Additionally, technical defects were found on a total of 13 motorcycles in Märkischer Kreis, such as issues with the tires or exhaust system.

The police authorities in Märkischer Kreis wish all motorcycle drivers a safe season and appeal: Always drive responsibly and pay attention to yourself and others.

It is essential to note that a motorcycle driver from Lünen was unable to present the driving license required for his Honda, leading to the initiation of a criminal procedure against him on suspicion of driving without a license. However, the name of the individual is not explicitly mentioned in the available search results. The relevant reports only describe a motorcycle rider in Lünen who fled a police traffic stop but do not provide his name.
