Julia Roberts' film "After The Hunt" receives a six-minute standing ovation at its world premiere in Venice.
In the upcoming film "After the Hunt," Julia Roberts plays a college professor, and her powerful performance has already garnered significant attention. The movie, produced by Stephen Curry, Brian Grazer, Allan Mandelbaum, Luca Guadagnino, Nora Garrett, and Karen Lunder under Imagine Entertainment, will open the New York Film Festival on September 26, following its Venice debut.
At the world premiere, Roberts and Guadagnino were emotional, appearing to be moved to tears. The crowd responded with a six-minute ovation, and the producers, including Guadagnino, were applauded and urged the cast to come forward. The audience even chanted "Brava Luca!" during the premiere.
"After the Hunt" isn't just a diatribe about 'woke' culture, but a genuine attempt to explore current events, according to Damon Wise's review. The film's narrative revolves around a dark secret from Roberts' past that threatens to come into the light.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloë Sevigny, Lió Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, Will Price, Christine Dye, Burgess Byrd, and Ayo Edebiri, who plays a star student. Andrew Garfield also stars as one of Roberts' colleagues.
Julia Roberts, during the press conference for "After the Hunt," expressed that she doesn't see the film as making statements, but as portraying people in a specific moment in time. She added that the film could mark another milestone for her, being her strongest role since 2000's Erin Brockovich, and an astonishing performance in its own right, according to Damon Wise.
"After the Hunt" will be released in domestic theaters on October 10. Sony will be handling the overseas release. With its thought-provoking narrative and star-studded cast, "After the Hunt" is shaping up to be a must-see film.
