Jurassic Park Survival: After a span of 35 years, this game is set to return us to the original origin point

In the world of video games, Jurassic Park: Survival, developed by Saber Interactive, is set to offer an exciting new chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise. The game is based on Isla Nublar, where the theme park full of genetically modified dinosaurs went awry in 1993, as seen in the original 1990 novel and the iconic 1993 film.

Jurassic Park: Survival might just be the best chance yet to experience the park as depicted in the original novel. The game includes novel-specific locations, even if minimal, which expands on the journey and enhances the novel's impact. For instance, players can traverse unforgiving jungle terrain, a feature that was not fully explored in the film but is a significant part of the novel's trek.

The main character, Maya Joshi, is an original creation for the game and resembles the extended park staff from the 1990 novel. The developers have also mentioned the inclusion of Jurassic Park's hotel in the game, adding to the authenticity of the novel's setting.

The original Jurassic Park film is considered the most nostalgic point in the wider franchise's history. However, every sequel and adaptation in the series, including Jurassic World: Evolution, a series of terrific park-builder games, have elevated the esteem of the 1993 film and enhanced the 1990 novel's impact.

It's worth noting that the Super Nintendo's Jurassic Park game, which was recently made available, was difficult and echoed the novel's story more than the film, including missions and locations not present in the movie. This suggests that Jurassic Park: Survival might incorporate ideas from the 1990 novel, even if it only applies simple locations that were absent from the film.

Interestingly, most efforts in the series have tied into the new Jurassic World branding in the past decade. However, Jurassic Park: Survival promises to offer an experience similar to the original 1990 novel, possibly providing a refreshing change of pace for fans of the franchise.

By the end of the novel, there are unaccounted-for InGen employees and workmen still on Isla Nublar, likely fleeing for their lives. It remains to be seen how these characters will be incorporated into the game's narrative.

The upcoming frontier for the series is Jurassic World Evolution 3, featuring baby dinosaurs, new creative tools, and a globe-trotting campaign. While Jurassic Park: Survival offers a return to the original novel's terrifying adventure, Jurassic World Evolution 3 promises to take the series in a new direction, maintaining the franchise's exciting momentum.

The tagline of the original Jurassic Park film states that it's "an adventure sixty five million years in the making." With Jurassic Park: Survival, fans can once again step into that adventure, this time with a fresh perspective and a faithful recreation of the original novel's setting and characters.
