In the heart of Aachen city center, on August 30, 2025, a thrilling car chase unfolded that has since led to a police investigation. The high-performance gray Mercedes, sporting an Aachen license plate, was the vehicle at the centre of this dramatic incident.

The vehicle was spotted and subsequently seized by the traffic division of Aachen Police in Gneisenaustraße. The chase had begun when the police attempted to stop the car in the area of Saarstraße, but it fled at high speed, running multiple red lights.

The police eventually had to abandon the chase due to the dangerous driving and excessive speed of the unknown vehicle. However, the car was later found abandoned, leading to the discovery of a 15-year-old boy in the driver's seat and a 19-year-old renter in the passenger seat.

The 15-year-old, who does not have a driver's license, was found to have been driving the car. A blood sample was taken from him due to the suspicion that he was under the influence of laughing gas during the chase.

The 19-year-old renter, who has had multiple previous encounters with the police, was found with over 1,000 euros in cash during a search. The money was also seized, as it could not be ruled out that it came from criminal activities and the 19-year-old could not account for its origin.

Several used helium balloons and opened laughing gas canisters were found in the vehicle, adding to the suspicions of illegal activities. An investigation into the case for unauthorized racing, driving without a license, and driving under the influence has been initiated by the traffic division of Aachen Police.

Witnesses who were hindered or endangered by the driving of the gray Mercedes with an Aachen license plate are asked to contact the traffic division at 0241-9577 42201 (or 0241-9577 0 outside of office hours). For further inquiries, the Aachen Police Press Office can be contacted at 0241 / 9577 - 21211 or via email at [email protected].

The case was originally reported by Polizei Aachen and transmitted via news aktuell. The vehicle owner, who was later found at his residence, claimed to have rented the car to the 19-year-old. The investigation is ongoing.
