Kathrein Group Faces Insolvency, Potential Investors Express Interest

The Rosenheim-based Kathrein group, known for its wide range of technical solutions including high-frequency and broadcasting technology, network technology, digital reception systems, auto ID applications, e-mobility solutions, and products for building installation, has recently filed for insolvency.

On August 11, Kathrein Electronics GmbH and Kathrein Digital Systems GmbH filed for insolvency, followed by Kathrein Broadcast GmbH, which filed for insolvency in March 2022. The Rosenheim District Court has appointed lawyer Michael Verken as provisional insolvency administrator for the Kathrein companies.

The ongoing strain from the restructuring of earlier companies, which began years ago, is the primary cause of the group's current crisis. The inability to resolve associated burdens and task areas more quickly has led to the insolvency applications.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the insolvency administrator and his team have managed to stabilize processes and ensure uninterrupted supply and support for customers. Wage payments for affected employees, numbering over 100 at the group's sites in southern Germany, will be covered by insolvency benefits from the employment agency.

The team's aim is to find a long-term viable solution for the Kathrein group and preserve the well-known traditional brand. Provisional insolvency administrator Michael Verken and his team have held talks with management, employees, key customers, and business partners to keep business operations running in the companies.

Initial talks with potential investors are already underway, and there are already expressions of interest from potential investors, according to Anchor. The investor process for the Kathrein companies is set to start shortly. Potential investors interested in rescuing the insolvent Kathrein Group have already made initial expressions of interest to the preliminary insolvency administrator. Specific names have not been publicly disclosed.

The goal is to find a solution that will secure the future of the Kathrein group. The group consists of Kathrein Broadcast GmbH, Kathrein Electronics GmbH, Kathrein Digital Systems, Kathrein Solutions, and Kathrein Sachsen. A structured process will begin in the coming days for the Kathrein companies.

In a positive development, an investor, Lenbach Capital, was found for Kathrein Broadcast GmbH in June 2022, providing a glimmer of hope for the group's future. The team remains optimistic and continues to work diligently towards finding a viable long-term solution for the Kathrein group.
