Kazakhstan's Financial Hub: Strategies for Boosting GDP Growth to 6%

In a recent meeting, the focus was on the growth potential of various sectors in Kazakhstan, with a particular emphasis on machine building, food, chemical, oil refining, and the construction industries.

The construction sector, in particular, has ambitious plans. The residential construction sector aims to commission a staggering 19 million square meters of housing by the year 2025. This is a significant increase from previous years, and it reflects the sector's active growth.

The volume of work in Kazakhstan's construction sector has seen a notable increase as well. Over the first five months of 2025, the sector has grown by 15.4%, totaling 2 trillion tenge. This growth is also reflected in the residential construction sector, where 6 million square meters have been commissioned as of May, marking a 5.7% increase from the same period in 2024.

The industry sector in Kazakhstan has also shown impressive growth, expanding by 6.4% over the first five months of 2025. This growth makes the industry the main driver of economic growth in Kazakhstan, accounting for 25.7% of the country's GDP by the end of 2024.

The meeting was led by Vice-Premier and Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumaniyazov. His goal is to achieve a 6% GDP growth in 2025. To achieve this, all sectors of the real economy must operate according to established indicators.

However, it was also noted that administrative barriers must be promptly eliminated, and clear monthly plans must be developed for each sector with slowing growth. This will allow companies to increase their production and contribute to the overall economic growth of Kazakhstan.

The meeting also touched upon the agricultural sector, with Yerbolat Dossayev, the acting agriculture minister, present. In the first five months of 2025, it was previously reported that the volume of agricultural GDP increased by 4%. The meeting discussed export quotas for animal feed and grain, which were introduced as of September 1, 2025.

In conclusion, Kazakhstan's construction and industry sectors are experiencing active growth, with the construction sector aiming to commission a significant amount of housing by 2025. The industry remains the main driver of economic growth, and efforts are being made to eliminate administrative barriers and increase production across all sectors to achieve the goal of a 6% GDP growth in 2025.
