Kia unveils specifics about the EV4, PV5, and EV2 concepts at its '2025 Electric Vehicle (EV) Day' extravaganza
Kia Unveils Three New Electric Vehicles, Embracing a Sustainable Future
Kia Corp. has made a bold move towards a sustainable future, unveiling three new electric vehicles (EVs) – the EV4 sedan, PV5 van, and EV2 concept model. The EV4 and PV5 are set to hit the market soon, while the EV2 is expected to launch in Europe and other regions in 2026.
The EV4, Kia's first all-electric sedan, is projected to deliver an estimated range of 430 km (267 miles) with its two battery sizes: 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. Tom Kearns, Kia's chief designer, has been responsible for the sleek design of the EV4, which was initially unveiled as a concept model in 2023. The EV4 will be available in two versions – a long-range version targeting a driving range of 630 km (391 miles) and a standard range variant.
Production of the EV4 sedan is expected to begin mid-March in Korea and the second half of the year in Slovakia. The EV4 will be sold in Korea this month and worldwide throughout 2025. The EV4 has also been recognised as one of the finalists for the 2025 North American Car of the Year Awards.
The EV4 will utilise Kia's new Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA) in its development, streamlining the process for a smoother launch. It will also feature vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-grid functionality, allowing for a more integrated and sustainable lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the PV5 van is the first dedicated model built on Kia's "Platform Beyond Vehicle" (PBV) business strategy. The PV5 will be built on Kia's Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service (E-GMP.S) platform, ensuring a robust and efficient design. The PV5 is set to be available in South Korea and European markets starting in the second half of 2025.
Kia is also expanding its software ecosystem for PV5 commercial customers, aiming to provide a seamless and integrated experience. The PV5 will feature Android Automotive OS in its infotainment system, offering a familiar and user-friendly interface.
As part of its updated electrified vehicle strategy, Kia aims to launch up to 15 new EVs by 2027 and have fully electric and hybrid models account for 58% of its total global sales by decade end. This ambitious plan is a testament to Kia's commitment to a greener future.
The EV2, an electric sub-compact crossover model, is another step in Kia's journey towards electrification. While a production version of the EV2 is yet to be released, it is expected to launch in 2026, further expanding Kia's electric vehicle lineup.
With these new EVs, Kia is not just driving innovation, but also shaping the future of mobility. The company's commitment to sustainability and its focus on user experience are setting a new standard in the automotive industry.
