Kiev acknowledges victories in Donbass region
In recent days, the Ukrainian military has made several small territorial gains in the southeastern part of the country, particularly in the Donbass region. These gains have been reported by Valeriy Zaluzhny, the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief. However, these reports could not be independently verified.
The city of Pokrovsk, a significant hotspot in the ongoing conflict, has been destroyed. Defending Ukrainian independence and the Ukrainian flag in the Pokrovsk area is a daily risk and struggle, according to Syrskyi, the commander who reported on these territorial gains. The situation in the Pokrovsk area is the most difficult, he emphasized.
President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted that the Ukrainian military wanted to switch from defense to offense, a strategy that aligns with the sentiments expressed by Donald Trump. The former U.S. President used a sports analogy to suggest that a defensive strategy is not likely to lead to victory, and that a team cannot win if they only play defense.
Meanwhile, in a different context, TSV Ehningen has won in the Football Landesliga, Division II. A canoe tour is taking place in Esslingen for an entertaining journey through the city's history.
In addition to these territorial gains, another settlement, Novomykhailivka, was reported to have been retaken by the Ukrainian military and a military unit. Three more settlements occupied by Russian units were also reportedly retaken in the Donetsk region by the Ukrainian military.
The biggest hotspot remains the area around the now destroyed city of Pokrovsk, where the struggle for Ukrainian independence continues. The shift from defense to offense, if it occurs, could potentially change the course of this ongoing conflict.
