Knowledge Enhancement and Skill Development

In the city of Hürth, a special sports award ceremony was held to recognise and honour the achievements of its sports community. The event, a moment to appreciate those who shape the sports landscape with their accomplishments or volunteer engagement, saw several individuals and teams being awarded for their contributions.

Dieter Mischke, a long-serving volunteer for the Hürth Basketball Club, was named Volunteer of the Year. His dedication spanning decades as a youth coach, organiser, and board member has significantly impacted the club.

Meanwhile, Dieter Mischke wasn't the only one being honoured. The city also recognised Max Maslak, a multiple German champion in gliding, as Sportsman of the Year. Maslak, who discovered his passion for gliding at an early age with the Albatros Hürth air sports club, crowned his career with the world championship title at the 13th FAI Junior World Championships 2024 in Poland. Currently, he is participating in the World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Julia Rick, a pioneer in wakeboarding, was named Sportswoman of the Year. Her career began at the water ski facility at Bleibtreusee and she now trains in Thailand. Rick, a multiple European and world champion, has been part of the absolute world elite in wakeboarding for years. She has mastered spectacular tricks and has been awarded the international "Trick of the Year Award" several times.

Koellefornication, the flagship of Hürth's InTakt dance studio, was named Team of the Year. The dance group, known for powerful choreographies, synchronization, and expressive strength, has achieved great recognition, including first place at the Duisburger Tanztage 2024, second place at the Venlo Ballet Promotion League Championships 2023, and great recognition for their current show "Baiana Flow" at the Duisburger Tanztage 2025.

The city's sportspeople of the year were chosen by a jury appointed by the city of Hürth's committee for culture, sports, and baths. Each of the award winners has the honour of being entered into the Golden Book of the city.

Max Maslak and Julia Rick, in addition to their sports achievements, are also role models for young athletes. Maslak, an enthusiastic gliding instructor, continues to inspire the next generation of gliders, while Rick, with her records in wakeboarding, remains a beacon of excellence in her sport.

The annual event also recognised the diverse volunteer work of sports clubs in Hürth by awarding a Volunteer of the Year. This year, the honour went to Dieter Mischke. The sports award ceremony is a testament to the city's commitment to its sports community and a celebration of the achievements and dedication of its sportspeople and volunteers.
