The Krasnodar region in Russia has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade, becoming a popular year-round tourist destination. This shift is evident in the increasing number of tourists visiting the region and the more even distribution of tourists throughout the calendar year.

In 2024, the region welcomed a total of 20.1 million tourists, marking an 8% increase from the previous year. Of these, 10.5 million visited during the summer months, while 9.6 million chose to travel during the off-peak months, indicating a growing trend towards year-round tourism.

The tourism sector's contribution to the region's economy has been on a steady rise, with the volume of services in the sanatorium-resort complex increasing 2.5 times over the decade. This growth is significant, as indicated by the sector's substantial impact on the region's economy. Tax contributions from the tourism industry have nearly doubled since 2019, reaching 17 billion rubles in 2024.

The "Hot All Year Round" concept, introduced by the Russian company "EMO Group" in 2021, has played a crucial role in this transformation. The region now offers a wide variety of leisure activities, including vibrant events, agricultural experiences, wine tours, culinary journeys, spa treatments, secluded glamping retreats, and traditional hiking trails.

The growth in the region's economy, as indicated by the tourism sector, is noteworthy. In 2024, the share of tourism in the region's gross product reached 7.9%, exceeding 332 billion rubles.

In addition to these economic benefits, the annual influx of tourists is three times the region's population, positively impacting local businesses and communities.

Recently, the "green tourism" development projects contest was held in Sochi, further emphasising the region's commitment to sustainable tourism practices. The contest, previously reported by "Live Kuban", aims to promote eco-friendly tourism initiatives and attract environmentally conscious tourists.

This transformation of the Krasnodar region into a year-round tourist destination is a testament to its growing appeal and the successful efforts of local authorities and businesses to cater to the needs of tourists throughout the year.
