Since Smart transitioned from a Mercedes vanity project to a joint venture with Geely, we've seen the arrival of the Smart #1 and Smart #3. Now, with the Smart #5, the company is stepping into uncharted territory, offering bigger, all-electric offerings.
The Smart #5 is being referred to as a 'Contemporary Adventurer'. This moniker is fitting, as the new electric Smart #5 has officially been revealed as a boxy SUV, as large as a Volvo XC60. The design, handled by Mercedes-Benz, is sleek and modern, promising a premium feel.
Under the hood, the Smart #5 is set to impress. Single motor options may have 300bhp and 400bhp, while a range-topping 4WD version could have more than 600bhp, thanks to its 800v architecture. This high-voltage system is designed for fast charging and efficient power delivery.
The Smart #5 will come equipped with a battery pack boasting more than 100kWH, providing a range of up to 350 miles. This impressive range, along with its expected four-wheel drive capabilities, makes the Smart #5 a formidable competitor in the electric SUV market.
Leaked information suggests that the Smart #5 may have up to 637bhp, further solidifying its position as a high-performance vehicle. The car was first debuted in Australia last year, and will make its official debut in the UK in Q4 2025.
