Labour Ministry Inks Agreements to Boost Employment Opportunities and Career Counseling

The Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, attended a formal ceremony in New Delhi on September 8, 2025, where several significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed.

One of the MoUs was with Quikr, an online classifieds platform, aiming to integrate over 1,200 daily job listings across 1,200+ cities from Quikr Jobs into the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This collaboration is intended to enhance real-time access to job opportunities, especially for youth in rural and underserved areas.

The NCS platform, which serves as a one-stop solution for employment-related services, currently boasts 52 lakh registered employers, 5.79 crore job seekers, 7.22 crore vacancies mobilised, and over 44 lakh active vacancies. Over the past year, the Ministry has signed MoUs with 10 key organizations, resulting in nearly five lakh new vacancies on the portal.

The Minister also mentioned that suitable employment opportunities and structured mentoring will be available, particularly in light of the PM-VBRY coming into effect in August this year. The partnership with Mentor Together, another organization that signed an MoU, is expected to reach two lakh youth in its first year, offering personalized career mentoring, supported by over 24,000 trained professionals.

The Minister stated that these collaborations are part of the government's efforts to reduce the unemployment rate, which stands at 2% according to the World Economic Forum's 'Future of Jobs Report 2025'. The government's employment-centric policies, rapid economic growth, and targeted schemes such as MUDRA, PM SVANidhi, and PM-VBRY have contributed to this low unemployment rate.

The city- and district-level outreach aims to ensure no jobseeker is left behind. The Minister expressed optimism, stating that these initiatives will ensure a bright future for the country and its youth. The unemployment rate in India is at a historic low, and these collaborations are expected to further boost job access and personal career mentoring through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.
