Lake Koblenz, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, enjoys the highest popularity among region's lakes.

In a recent nationwide event, the "Favourite Lake" vote 2025, Lake Laacher in the east of the Vulkaneifel near Andernach emerged as the winner in Rhineland-Palatinate, beating strong competition. This popular destination attracted over 300,000 votes, a testament to its appeal for local recreation and regional tourism.

Lake Laacher, a picturesque body of water formed as a volcanic hollow that gradually filled with groundwater, boasts a rich history and stunning natural beauty. Its proximity to the Benedictine abbey of Maria Laach adds an air of tranquillity and spirituality.

The second place in Rhineland-Palatinate went to Waldsee Rieden, another popular tourist spot known for its serene atmosphere. The third spot was claimed by the Wiesensee near Stahlhofen, a haven for nature lovers seeking to escape the noise and hectic pace of everyday life. Situated within the Vulkanpark Eifel, the Wiesensee offers an ideal setting for cooling off or sunbathing on hot days.

The Wiesensee's popularity extends to the nearby towns of Pottum, Winnen, and Hellenhahn-Schellenberg. The lake's charm was not lost on Jörg Lempertz, mayor of the VG Mendig, who expressed his happiness about the two lakes from their region winning the vote.

On a national scale, Lake Constance in Baden-Württemberg took the top spot, while Lake Arendsee in Saxony-Anhalt came in third place. The Bodensee, situated at the border of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and neighbouring countries, and the Möhnesee in North Rhine-Westphalia secured first and third places respectively in the nationwide voting for "Favourite Lake" 2025.

Lake Laacher's victory in the Rhineland-Palatinate vote is a testament to its enduring appeal and the love it has garnered from its visitors. Whether it's the serene beauty, the rich history, or the vibrant local culture, Lake Laacher continues to be a beacon for tourists and locals alike.
