In the early hours of June 11, a significant incident occurred on the A52 near Dorsten. At 00:35, a traffic accident took place, involving a 41-year-old man from Oberhausen.

According to the Münster Police, the man was driving without a valid driver's license and showed signs of alcohol intoxication. The accident occurred just behind the Dorsten-Ost exit when the man collided with a guardrail.

Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, treating the severely injured man on the spot. Despite their best efforts, the man fled on foot towards an adjacent lake after the accident. A search operation was initiated, involving police officers, a police dog, and a helicopter.

The man was found nearby shortly after the search began, and he was subsequently taken to a hospital for further treatment. No information was provided about his condition after the accident. A doctor took a blood sample from the man for analysis.

The circumstances leading to the accident remain unknown. The man now faces criminal charges in relation to the traffic accident.
