Law enforcement has tracked down two individuals believed to be responsible for thefts.

In a swift and effective operation, the Cologne Police have successfully recovered a stolen laptop that was traced to a suspect duo following a car theft in the city centre.

The drama unfolded on August 26, when the owner of the laptop noticed her backpack, wallet, and laptop were missing from her car at lunchtime. She immediately contacted the police and began tracking the laptop's location, which led her to Rudolfplatz, then to Neumarkt, and finally to Hürth.

The police video surveillance showed that the suspects boarded the tram with the bag at the Neumarkt. The pursuing officers stopped the tram heading out of the city at the "Fischenich" stop and arrested the two individuals (45 and 52 years old) in a tram in Hürth. The suspects were found with the computer in a plastic bag.

The stolen backpack contained the laptop, which could be tracked by its owner. However, the wallet and the backpack are still missing, and both suspects are scheduled to appear before a judge later in the day.

Witnesses with information about the incident are asked to contact Criminal Commissioner 74 by phone at 0221 229-0 or by email at [email protected].
