Speeding Crackdown in County Borken
In a bid to combat excessive speeding and reckless driving, the traffic team from the Borken County Police Department has been actively monitoring the speed of vehicles in various parts of the county. Over the past few days, they recorded the speed of 8,177 vehicles at 13 locations across County Borken.
The data revealed some alarming findings. Particularly serious excess speeds were recorded in the North district, with a vehicle speeding at 74 km/h on the Vredener Straße in Stadtlohn, exceeding the maximum allowed speed limit by a significant margin. Similarly, in the South district, an excessive speed of 88 km/h was recorded on the Büngerner Straße in Bocholt, inside the city. Outside built-up areas in Borken on the B 70, a speed of 107 km/h was recorded, again exceeding the maximum allowed speed limit of 70 km/h.
These excessive speeds are a major concern for the Borken County Police Department, as they are among the main causes of accidents in the county, often resulting in severe consequences. As a result, the department has taken action, setting up a speed trap at the scene where the speeding incidents occurred.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Approximately 16% of the vehicles recorded exceeded the permitted speed limit, leading to 2 driving bans, 96 administrative offense proceedings, and 468 warning fines.
The Borken County Police Department is committed to continuing its efforts to combat and prevent accidents caused by excessive speed and reckless driving in the coming week. The traffic team will continue its measurements to ensure the safety of all road users.
