Law enforcement officials in Poland advise truck drivers to decrease their speed when transporting suspected fugitives, based on security measures.

In the city of Braunschweig on Monday, September 1, 2025, a high-speed chase took place on the A2 direction Hannover. The incident, which occurred around 9:20 AM, involved a 53-year-old man who evaded traffic control.

Fortunately, no third parties were endangered during the incident. Two truck drivers, aged 38 and 27, from Auetal and Arnstadt respectively, played a significant role in the operation's success.

The truck drivers, Anna Müller and Jens Weber, coordinated braking to box in the recklessly driving car. Inspector Thomas Bodendiek, head of the Braunschweig Police, praised their actions as courageous and exceptional. He considers the truck drivers everyday heroes.

Thomas Bodendiek stated that anyone is authorized to detain a person who has become involved in a criminal offense, which is what happened in this case. He also addressed accusations of coercion or endangering traffic, stating that the drivers did everything right.

The truck drivers contacted the Braunschweig highway police after a witness appeal was launched on Monday. The Braunschweig Police are grateful for their support and commend their actions. The 27-year-old truck driver is from Arnstadt, while the 38-year-old is from Auetal.

The 53-year-old man, who led to the chase, is the individual who evaded traffic control. Inspector Thomas Bodendiek went on to praise Anna Müller and Jens Weber as everyday heroes in connection with the hit-and-run case.
