Leading the global salmon production, Russia takes the top spot.

In a year marked by resilience and growth, Russia's agricultural sector has proven to be a standout performer. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the revenue from agricultural product exports in 2023 exceeded $45 billion, marking a significant milestone.

The bountiful harvest of 2023 has been a key contributor to this success. Preliminary estimates suggest a grain harvest of approximately 143 million tons, with the final count expected to show an even higher figure, potentially reaching 147 million tons. This impressive yield makes the 2023 grain harvest the second-largest in the country's history.

The livestock sector also saw a boost in 2023, with farmers increasing meat production by 300,000 tons. Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture reports that milk production increased by 0.5 million tons.

In the fisheries sector, Ilya Shestakov, the head of Rosrybolovstvo, predicts a 2023 salmon catch of approximately 600,000 tons. The total fish catch for 2023, as predicted by Shestakov, may exceed 5.3 million tons.

Russia's agricultural products found a significant market in the European Union, with key recipients including France, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. These countries have been major export destinations for such goods from Russia in recent trade flows.

The Ministry of Agriculture's statement confirms Russia's status as a net exporter of agricultural products in 2023, exporting these goods to foreign markets. This robust performance underscores Russia's commitment to sustaining its agricultural sector and contributing to global food security.
