Leaked Report Reveals Fresh Details on Upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Air

The tech giant Apple has announced that it will be unveiling four new iPhones, including the iPhone 17 Air, at its special event on Tuesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific. The event can be followed live via YouTube and the Apple website.

One of the most intriguing devices among the upcoming lineup is the iPhone 17 Air. According to reports, this model will feature a single rear camera, a departure from the multi-camera setups that have become standard in recent iPhone models. However, the iPhone 17 Air will compensate for this with its power-efficient Apple C1 modem, which is known for its energy-saving capabilities.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a 6.6-inch screen and support ProMotion, offering a smooth and responsive user experience. The device will also sport a standard USB-C port and a slim frame, with rumours suggesting it could be as thin as 5.5mm or even thinner than the Samsung S25 Edge (5.8 mm thick).

Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Air will not have a physical SIM card slot, requiring the use of eSIMs instead. This could potentially affect international sales, as some carriers may not yet handle eSIMs.

In terms of pricing, the iPhone 17 Air may be almost as expensive as the iPhone 17 Pro, reflecting Apple's bet that consumers are willing to pay more for the form-factor of the iPhone 17 Air. Despite this, the iPhone 17 Air may do better than the mini and Plus iPhones from recent years, but it may still be a niche product.

The iPhone 17 Air will also feature Apple's own modem, the Apple C1, which may not be as fast as Qualcomm's modem in other iPhone 17 models. However, the focus seems to be on power efficiency rather than raw speed.

The iPhone 17 Air may pave the way for future innovations, such as the rumoured iPhone Fold, which could arrive in 2026. The initial success of the iPhone 17 Air may miss the point, as the 2008 MacBook Air didn't sell well initially but set the stage for a redesigned version in 2010 that became Apple's top-selling Mac for at least a decade.

For those interested in following the iPhone 17 launch event, Forbes has provided a guide on how to watch the event live. The iPhone 17 Air will be officially presented by Apple on September 9, 2025, at 19:00 (German time). Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new product!
