Hollywood Legend Francis Ford Coppola Pays Tribute to Werner Herzog at Venice Film Festival

The Venice Film Festival, now in its 89th edition, was a special occasion for acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. During the event, he expressed his joy about the existence of another legendary director, Werner Herzog.

Herzog, a German director, producer, actor, voice actor, and writer, is known for his unique and diverse films. Coppola, known for directing classics like "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now," described Herzog's work as great.

Herzog, who was born in Munich in 1942, is one of the world's most prominent filmmakers. His new documentary, "The Ghost and the Lightning," was screened out of competition at the festival. The film follows a herd of elephants known as "ghost elephants" in the rugged highlands of Angola.

The highlight of the festival for Herzog was receiving the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. The recipient of the award was for his overall work. In 2009, Time magazine named Herzog as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

The production of "The Ghost and the Lightning" was supported by entities including American Zoetrope, A24, and Blumhouse. The film was shown at the festival before it was produced or financed by these entities.

Hollywood legend Coppola paid tribute to Herzog during the festival, but the Duke of Venice was not specified. Despite not being entered in the competition, "The Ghost and the Lightning" received a warm reception from both the audience and the festival organisers.

As for Coppola's age, he is 86 years old, while Herzog's birth year was not mentioned in the earlier bullet points. Regardless, both filmmakers continue to make significant contributions to the film industry.
