Leipzig's Chemie club get a clean shave, in brewery terms.
In the 2nd round of the Saxony Cup, Chemie Leipzig showcased their superiority over Radeberger SV, securing a resounding 7-0 victory.
The scoring spree began early, with Philipp Wendt netting the first goal at the 17th minute. The momentum continued to favour Chemie Leipzig, with seven different players finding the back of the net. Jean Marie Nadjombe, assisted by Bunge, made it 7-0 in the 82nd minute, marking Nadjombe as the seventh green-white scorer.
Jannik Mäder converted a rebounded penalty to make it 4-0 for Chemie Leipzig in the 53rd minute, while Rajk Lisinki scored from a cross by Wendt for 5-0 just six minutes later. Tim Kießling added two more goals to Chemie Leipzig's tally, scoring unmarked after a corner for 6-0 in the 60th minute and hitting the post four minutes after scoring. Jonas Mai let a weak 25-meter shot from Robin Friedrich slip through for Chemie Leipzig's 3rd goal at the 33rd minute.
Despite the heavy defeat, Chemie Leipzig aims to improve their form in the upcoming game. The team has suffered six consecutive defeats in the Regionalliga and will face Halle FC on Friday at 6 pm, with hopes of preventing a seventh.
There is speculation about the job security of Chemie Leipzig's coach, Alipour, following the team's poor performance. However, the focus remains on the upcoming game against Halle FC, a chance for Chemie Leipzig to turn their fortunes around.
The lead photo for the match was an image montage by Matthias Koch and S. Sonntag, capturing the intensity and excitement of the game. On the field, the coach of Radeberger SV, Eric Bachmann, led his team in the game against Chemie Leipzig. Despite Radeberg's inability to progress beyond the 2nd round in the past four years in the Saxony Cup, the team will undoubtedly be looking to learn from this defeat and improve in future matches.
