The Italian automaker Fiat is set to release a special edition of its electric 500, the Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition. This limited-run version of the popular city car will go on sale in the UK later this year, with first customer cars due in early 2025.
The Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition is powered by an 116bhp electric motor and a 42kWh battery, promising a range of 199 miles and charging at up to 85kW. This makes it a viable option for daily commutes and weekend trips.
The car features a minimalist and simple design with clean lines, staying true to the Armani brand's aesthetic. It comes in two paint jobs: 'dark green micinalised' and 'ceramic greige'. Inside, the Armani Edition boasts a wood finish, anodised trim, chevron-stitched seat inserts, a glass roof, 7.0'' driver display, 10.25'' infotainment, JBL Sound, LED headlights, and adaptive cruise.
Fiat has a history of venturing into electric vehicles, with previous attempts in 2011. Back then, the company launched an electric Fiat 500 in the US to appease regulators. However, the Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition seems to be a more deliberate step towards electric mobility, as Fiat is planning to focus its future on Eco City Cars, with a new electric Fiat 500e and a new Eco Panda in the works.
Sergio Marchionne, former CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, expressed a desire for Fiat to focus on electric vehicles back in 2011. It seems that this vision is now becoming a reality. The Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition, priced around £30k, is a testament to Fiat's commitment to electric mobility.
While the Fiat 500e is now available for sale in the US with monthly lease payments similar to the 500 Pop, the Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Edition is not mentioned to be available in the US. However, the special edition is expected to be offered in Germany by Fiat itself in the years 2024/2025.
