In a groundbreaking announcement made by Dr Somlerk Jeungsmarn, the director-general of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, cannabis buds have been legalised for medical use in Thailand. Here's a breakdown of the new regulations and how they affect patients.

Starting immediately, sellers of cannabis buds are required to source their products from certified farms. However, no specific certified farms have been named in the available search results as sources of cannabis buds delivered in Thailand.

Sellers are also prohibited from engaging in online sales, vending machine sales, or advertising. Cannabis buds can only be sold in licensed shops, which are authorised and listed by the Cannamed Connect platform. This platform also manages applications for prescriptions and the distribution of cannabis buds.

To obtain cannabis buds, patients must have a doctor's prescription. Each prescription is valid for up to 30 days of treatment. Cannabis buds can be obtained from licensed doctors or pharmacists in Thailand.

The conditions for using cannabis buds in Thailand are limited to specific medical conditions, including insomnia, chronic pain, migraine, Parkinson's disease, and anorexia. The Cannamed Connect platform maintains records of patient use of cannabis buds.

It's important to note that no new information about the restrictions on the use of cannabis buds by patients was provided in this announcement. Dr Jeungsmarn also announced the requirement for sellers to abstain from advertising cannabis buds.

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine has announced that cannabis buds can be legally used in Thailand. This is a significant step towards the acceptance and integration of cannabis as a legitimate medical treatment in the country.
