Lisbon: Parents Discover Son Previously Believed Deceased in Hospital Setting

In the heart of Lisbon, Portugal, a tragic accident occurred on one of the city's most famous tourist attractions - the Elevador da Gloria cable car. The accident, which took place on a seemingly ordinary day, has left 16 individuals dead and 21 injured, some severely.

The incident began with a suspected defect in the cable of the cable car, leading to a catastrophic snap. The accident resulted in a death trap for those on board, causing widespread panic and shock. Among the victims were five Portuguese, three British, two Canadians, two South Koreans, one each from Switzerland, Ukraine, France, and the USA.

Initially, a German tourist was believed to be among the deceased. However, a DNA test conducted confirmed that the man found in the hospital was not the German tourist. His family, who were initially asked to identify a dead body, denied it was their son. To their relief, the man, also a father, was lying in the San José Hospital, unconscious but alive. His wife and their young child, who were also involved in the accident, survived. The wife was severely injured, and the child had only light injuries.

The family that was severely injured in the San José Hospital comes from Germany, but the exact origin within Germany is unknown. The Portuguese criminal police have identified all the victims and are currently investigating the accident to determine the cause and maintenance status of the cable car.

According to Neves, secure findings will take some time to become available. The investigation is expected to take some time to provide clear answers. No previous similar accidents have been reported with the cable cars in Lisbon, making this the first time such an accident has occurred with one of the three cable cars operated since the 19th century in Lisbon.

The accident has been a devastating blow to Lisbon's tourism industry, with many questioning the safety of the city's iconic cable cars. The authorities are assuring the public that they are doing everything in their power to find the cause of the accident and to ensure the safety of all visitors.

As the investigation continues, the city of Lisbon mourns the loss of 16 lives and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Elevador da Gloria cable car, once a symbol of the city's rich history and vibrant culture, now serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety and maintenance in such tourist attractions.
