Live Streaming Options for LSU vs. Clemson College Football Game Today, No Cost Involved
In the world of American college football, few stories are as inspiring as that of Dabo Swinney. The head coach of the Clemson Tigers, Swinney has transformed the team into one of the most formidable forces in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Swinney's Tigers will face off against the LSU Tigers in a highly-anticipated regular season game. The match will air on ABC, with viewers also able to stream it on DirecTV, fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, and Sling. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium, Clemson, South Carolina.
But Swinney's journey to this point was far from easy. In November 2010, the Tigers suffered a crushing defeat to in-state rival South Carolina, dropping their record to 6-6 in the regular season. This loss, coupled with Swinney's record of 19-14 since taking over as head coach, had some questioning his leadership.
Among them was Terry Don Phillips, the athletic director at Clemson. Phillips, who had hired Swinney as the interim head coach in 2008, warned him that there would be criticism and even offered a hypothetical support for packing up if things didn't work out.
However, Phillips also told Swinney that he believed in him more than when he first hired him. This support proved crucial, as Swinney's belief in a struggling young quarterback, Cade Klubnik, led to Klubnik's success and recognition as a first-team Associated Press preseason All-American and a projected first-round NFL draft pick.
The day after the 2010 loss, Swinney found himself thinking he might be getting fired. He was called to a meeting with Phillips, who was visibly upset. In the hallway, Phillips told Swinney that he might be getting fired. Swinney's wife, Kathleen, was in tears.
But Swinney reminded himself that "God's got me." And indeed, he was not fired that day. Instead, Phillips offered his unconditional support, promising Swinney the opportunity to prove himself as head coach.
This support, combined with Swinney's tireless work ethic, has paid off handsomely. In the years since, Swinney has led the Tigers to eight Atlantic Coast Conference championships in the last 10 years and two national championships.
Tim Bourret, Clemson's sports information director, witnessed the event and felt that Swinney had earned some stock from Phillips by leading the Tigers to the ACC championship game in 2009. Bourret also noted that Phillips had come to admire Swinney's tireless work as an assistant coach at Clemson before hiring him as the interim head coach in 2008.
Today, Swinney's office at Memorial Stadium is a hub of activity, with players often found hanging out between practices. And on game days, Swinney's presence on the sidelines is a source of inspiration for his team.
As the Clemson Tigers take the field against the LSU Tigers on August 30, 2025, it's clear that Dabo Swinney's journey has been one of perseverance and success. And it all started on a day when he thought he might be fired.
