The Ukpeagvik Inupiat Corporation (UIC), Alaska Commercial Company (AC), and Kannika's Market are working together to ensure the community is well-stocked with essential supplies, especially during the upcoming Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission and the North Slope Borough-hosted Kivgiq celebration.
Kyle Hill, president of AC, expressed his appreciation for UIC's support in addressing food security challenges. UIC is donating warm storage space to support local grocers, enabling them to restock and maintain essential supplies safely. This partnership will ensure the goods are quickly made available to the community via their respective storefronts.

Kannika's Market is expecting up to twenty additional pallets of supplies. Alaska Commercial Company is bringing in an expedited delivery of 75,000 additional pounds of groceries, including 55,000 pounds of dry goods, 10,000 pounds of chilled food, and 10,000 pounds of frozen food. AC is working diligently to ensure every shelf in their store is stocked.
The town of Utqiagvik is preparing for the upcoming celebrations, scheduled for February 10 to 16. The leaders of UIC, AC, and Kannika's Market are focused on ensuring food security during these events.
