Longest electric vehicle journey broken: Webfleet logs 916 kilometers in a single drive

In a groundbreaking achievement, Webfleet, a fleet management solution by Bridgestone, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. The record-breaking drive was completed over 24 hours on public roads in England, with the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV covering a total distance of 916.74 km (569.64 miles) between charges.

Beverly Wise, Webfleet UKI Regional Director for Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, emphasized the potential of the electric vehicle industry, stating that the record demonstrates the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) when coupled with innovative tyre design and advanced fleet management technology.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV, fitted with Bridgestone tyres, was able to optimize its range due to the minimal rolling resistance offered by the tyres. This, coupled with the advanced fleet management technology provided by Webfleet, allowed the vehicle to surpass expectations, averaging 10 km (6.25 miles) per kWh, significantly exceeding its WLTP range of 600 km (373 miles).

The record-breaking journey by the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV underscores the potential of the electric vehicle industry when advanced technologies are employed. According to Beverly Wise, this milestone is a significant step towards the electrification of road transport.

The previous record of 907.62 km (563.97 miles) was set in Hangzhou, China. However, the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV's record-breaking journey is seen by Beverly Wise as a symbol of the potential of the electric vehicle industry.

The record was verified by EV data and camera footage from Webfleet, ensuring the accuracy of the achievement. The Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric car on a single charge in the year of publication was thus set by the Polestar 3, which drove 935.44 km on one charge.

In conclusion, the record-breaking electric car journey by the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV showcases the potential of the electric vehicle industry with the right technological support. As we move towards a more sustainable future, innovations like these will play a crucial role in the electrification of road transport.
