Lufthansa announces substantial increase in reservation numbers
Lufthansa, Germany's flag carrier, is resuming and expanding flights to various destinations across Europe, in response to a significant increase in bookings ahead of the upcoming Christmas and New Year travel period.
The airline is resuming flights from both Munich and Frankfurt to popular European cities such as Paris, Madrid, Helsinki, Athens, Rome, Oslo, Warsaw, and Lisbon. Additionally, Lufthansa is adding new flights from these hubs to destinations like Gdansk, Salzburg, Turin, Naples, and Dublin.
Harry Hohmeister, a board member at Lufthansa, has stated that the desire to travel is high worldwide, and they are witnessing a clear increase in bookings as travel restrictions are lifted. This surge in bookings is particularly noticeable during the holiday period around Christmas and New Year.
Classic routes are being taken up again by Lufthansa, with popular flight destinations including South Africa, Namibia, the Canary Islands, Madeira, Mediterranean sun destinations, and snow-sure areas in northern Finland. The airline is also adding new flights to destinations in Europe, including almost every island of the Canaries from Frankfurt and Munich.
In a move to meet the increased demand, Lufthansa plans to adjust its flight plans short-term. This expansion comes after Lufthansa and its subsidiary Eurowings expanded codeshare flights with new and revived European destinations at the end of 2021. Routes between KΓΆln/Bonn and Italian cities like Bologna, Milan, Pisa, Rome, Venice, Verona, and from Stuttgart to Milan and Rome were included in this expansion.
As travel restrictions ease and the world starts to open up, it seems that the desire to explore and connect with others is stronger than ever. Lufthansa is committed to providing safe and convenient travel options for its passengers, making it easier than ever to visit loved ones, embark on a holiday adventure, or simply satisfy the urge to travel.
